A man came and embraced Islam during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, then his wife came and embraced Islam. He said, "Messenger of Allah, she had accepted Islam together with me, so return her to me." So he returned her to him. This is a sound hadith. I heard Abd bin Humayd say, I heard Yazid bin Harun mention from Muhammad bin Ishaq this hadith, along with the hadith of Hajjaj from Amr bin Shuayb from his father from his grandfather, that the Prophet ﷺ returned his daughter Zaynab to Abu al-As with a new dowry and a new marriage contract. Yazid bin Harun said, "The hadith of Ibn Abbas has the stronger chain of narration, but the practice is according to the hadith of Amr bin Shuayb."
