Qutayba traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, and Ahmad said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man must not sell against the sale of his brother, nor propose marriage over the proposal of his brother."
حدثنا أحمد بن منيع وقتيبة قالا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب
قتيبة يبلغ به النبي ﷺ وقال أحمد قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يبيع الرجل على بيع أخيه ولا يخطب على خطبة أخيه
Its takhrij is agreed upon. Bukhari related it in the Book of Sales, chapter "A man should not sell over the sale of his brother... etc," hadith 2140, and Muslim, hadith 1413, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna with this wording.On this subject there is also a report from Ibn Umar [Bukhari, hadith 5142, and Muslim, hadith 1412] and Samura [Ahmad, 2/242].Hadith, "As for Abu Jahm, he is a man who never lays down his stick from women."
