The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Mention the good qualities of your deceased and refrain from speaking of their faults."
حدثنا أبو كريب حدثنا معاوية بن هشام عن عمران بن أنس المكي عن عطاء
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال اذكروا محاسن موتاكم وكفوا عن مساويهم
[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it in "al-Adab," in the chapter on the prohibition of cursing the dead, no. 4900, from Abu Kurayb Muhammad bin Ala with the same wording, and Ibn Hibban included it in his Sahih (al-Ihsan), no. 3009.
