The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in a patterned garment that had decorative markings on it. Afterward he said, "These markings distracted me. Take this garment to Abu Jahm and bring me his plain one in return."
Bukhari reported it in the chapter on adhan, in the section on turning around during prayer, hadith no. 752, from Qutayba, and Muslim reported it in the chapter on mosques, in the section on the dislike of praying in a garment that has markings, hadith no. 556, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with the same wording. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 847.
