A silk garment was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he put it on and prayed in it. When he finished, he pulled it off forcefully, as though he disliked it, and said, "This does not befit the God-fearing."
أخبرنا قتيبة وعيسى بن حماد زغبة عن الليث عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن أبي الخير
أهدي لرسول الله ﷺ فروج حرير فلبسه ثم صلى فيه ثم انصرف فنزعه نزعا شديدا كالكاره له ثم قال لا ينبغي هذا للمتقين
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the qabaa and silk cloaks, etc., hadith no. 5801, and Muslim in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the prohibition of men wearing silk and the like, hadith no. 2075, from Qutayba with the same wording, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 8460.
