The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited Abbas in a desert encampment of ours, where we had a small dog and a female donkey out grazing. The Prophet ﷺ performed the afternoon prayer with them in front of him, and they were neither driven away nor moved back.
Its chain is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, in the chapter of whoever said a dog does not invalidate prayer, hadith no. 718, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Umar with this wording. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 829. Abbas bin Ubaydullah did not meet his uncle Fadl bin Abbas, so the chain is disconnected, as mentioned in Tahdheeb and elsewhere.
