The Prophet ﷺ carried out the punishment of amputation for theft of items valued at five dirhams.

[Its chain is daif]. It appears in Kubra, hadith 7428, with two flaws, the disconnection and Sufyan Thawri's use of "an" in his transmission. Ibn Turkmani al-Hanafi found fault with it for three reasons, one of which was Thawri's use of "an." He said, "Thawri conceals his sources, and he narrated using 'an.'" (Jawhar Naqi 8/261, 262). Abdul-Rahman is Ibn Mahdi, Sufyan is Thawri, and Isa is Ibn Abu Uzza.
