A woman during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to borrow jewelry. She borrowed some jewelry, gathered it, and then kept it for herself. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Let this woman repent and return what she has." He repeated this several times, but she did not do so, so he ordered that her hand be cut off, and it was cut off.
أخبرني محمد بن الخليل عن شعيب بن إسحق عن عبيد الله
أن امرأة كانت تستعير الحلي في زمان رسول الله ﷺ فاستعارت من ذلك حليا فجمعته ثم أمسكته فقال رسول الله ﷺ لتتب هذه المرأة وتؤدي ما عندها مرارا فلم تفعل فأمر بها فقطعت
