A woman from the tribe of Makhzum stole something, and she was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. She sought refuge with Umm Salama, but the Prophet ﷺ said, "Even if it were Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, I would cut off her hand." So her hand was cut off.
أخبرنا محمد بن معدان بن عيسى قال حدثنا الحسن بن أعين قال حدثنا معقل عن أبي الزبير
أن امرأة من بني مخزوم سرقت فأتي بها النبي ﷺ فعاذت بأم سلمة فقال النبي ﷺ لو كانت فاطمة بنت محمد لقطعت يدها فقطعت يدها
Muslim narrated it in the chapters on legal punishments, in the chapter on cutting off the hand of the noble thief and others, and the prohibition of interceding in matters of legal punishments, hadith no. 1689, from the hadith of Hasan bin Ayan, by this wording. It is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 7378.
