Sourcing, [Its isnad is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Judgments, chapter on debt and whether one may be imprisoned for it, hadith no. 3630, from the hadith of Mamar, with this wording. It is also found in his Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 7362. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, hadith no. 1003, as did Hakim (4/102) and Dhahabi, while Tirmidhi graded it hasan. See the following hadith.
