While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was distributing something, a man came forward and leaned in close over him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ poked him with a palm-branch he was holding. The man drew back wounded.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Come, take your retaliation."The man replied, "Rather, I forgive you, Messenger of Allah."
أخبرنا وهب بن بيان قال حدثنا ابن وهب قال أخبرني عمرو بن الحارث عن بكير بن عبد الله عن عبيدة بن مسافع
بينا رسول الله ﷺ يقسم شيئا أقبل رجل فأكب عليه فطعنه رسول الله ﷺ بعرجون كان معه فخرج الرجل فقال رسول الله ﷺ تعال فاستقد قال بل قد عفوت يا رسول الله
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Blood Money, chapter, retaliation for a blow and the ruler's retaliation upon himself, no. 4536, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Wahb, with the same chain, and it is in Al-Kubra, no. 6975. Ubayda was not declared trustworthy by anyone except Ibn Hibban, as far as I know, and Ibn Madini said, "He is unknown, and I do not know whether he heard from Abu Saeed or not."
