We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition to Tabuk, and with us was a companion of ours. He got into a fight with one of the Muslims, and the man bit his forearm. He pulled his arm out of the other's mouth, knocking out his front tooth. The man came to the Prophet ﷺ seeking compensation.The Prophet ﷺ said, "One of you goes to his brother and bites him like a stallion biting, then comes seeking compensation? There is no compensation for it."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared it void.
أخبرنا عمران بن بكار قال أنبأنا أحمد بن خالد قال حدثنا محمد عن عطاء بن أبي رباح عن صفوان بن عبد الله
خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في غزوة تبوك ومعنا صاحب لنا فقاتل رجلا من المسلمين فعض الرجل ذراعه فجذبها من فيه فطرح ثنيته فأتى الرجل النبي ﷺ يلتمس العقل فقال ينطلق أحدكم إلى أخيه فيعضه كعضيض الفحل ثم يأتي يطلب العقل لا عقل لها فأبطلها رسول الله ﷺ
[Its isnad is hasan] Ibn Majah narrated it in "The Book of Blood Money," in the chapter "One who bites a man, who then pulls his hand away and knocks out his front teeth," Hadith 2656, from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Yasar, by this same wording. It is also found in al-Kubra, Hadith 6967, and he stated explicitly that he heard it directly, as found in Ahmad 4/222-223 and elsewhere. It has corroborating narrations, see the following hadith. So the hadith is sahih.
