I caught two rabbits but could not find anything to slaughter them with, so I slaughtered them with a sharp white stone. I asked the Prophet ﷺ about that, and he instructed me to eat them.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا حفص عن عاصم وداود عن الشعبي
أصبت أرنبين فلم أجد ما أذكيهما به فذكيتهما بمروة فسألت النبي ﷺ عن ذلك فأمرني بأكلهما
Sourcing, [its chain is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices, Chapter on Slaughtering with Marwa, no. 2822, from the hadith of Asim al-Ahwal, with this wording. It is also in Kubra, no. 4825. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, no. 1069, as did Hakim and Dhahabi.Note, Dawud here is Ibn Abu Hind.
