Regarding the share of the Prophet ﷺ and his special portion, he said, "As for the share of the Prophet ﷺ, it was like the share of any one of the Muslims. As for the share of the special portion, it was a choice item selected from whatever he wished."

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Taxation, Spoils, and Governance, in the chapter on what has been said regarding the special share, hadith no. 2991, from the hadith of Mutarrif bin Tareef, and it is a mursal narration.
