The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from leasing our land. At that time there was neither gold nor silver in use, so a man would lease his land in exchange for whatever grew along the streams, the head channels, and other specified portions, and he continued the report. It was narrated by Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar from Rafi bin Khadij, and there is a difference of opinion regarding it from Zuhri.
أخبرنا يحيى بن حبيب بن عربي في حديثه عن حماد بن زيد عن يحيى بن سعيد عن حنظلة بن قيس
نهانا رسول الله ﷺ عن كراء أرضنا ولم يكن يومئذ ذهب ولا فضة فكان الرجل يكري أرضه بما على الربيع والأقبال وأشياء معلومة وساقه رواه سالم بن عبد الله بن عمر عن رافع بن خديج واختلف على الزهري فيه
