The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us to rent out our land, and at that time there was neither gold nor silver, so a man would lease his land in exchange for what grew along the water channels and the raised banks, and other specified amounts. He then carried the narration through. Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar reported it from Rafi bin Khadij, and there is disagreement in what is transmitted from Zuhri about it.
أخبرنا محمد بن يحيى بن عبد الله قال حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد بن أسماء عن جويرية عن مالك عن الزهري أن سالم بن عبد الله وذكر نحوه تابعه عقيل بن خالد
Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Military Campaigns, chapter 12, hadith 4012, 4013, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Asma with this chain, at length. It is also in Kubra, hadith 4632, and in Muwatta (Yahya), 2/711. It is agreed upon [by Bukhari and Muslim] from the hadith of Zuhri with this chain. See the following hadith.
