Regarding the leasing of bare land for gold and silver, he said, "It is permissible, there is no harm in it. That is the standard rate for land." Yahya bin Saeed narrated it from Hanzala bin Qays and traced it back to the Prophet, just as Malik narrated it from Rabia.
أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن المبارك عن وكيع قال حدثنا سفيان عن ربيعة بن أبي عبد الرحمن عن حنظلة بن قيس قال
عن كراء الأرض البيضاء بالذهب والفضة فقال حلال لا بأس به ذلك فرض الأرض رواه يحيى بن سعيد عن حنظلة بن قيس ورفعه كما رواه مالك عن ربيعة
