He went out to his people, the tribe of Banu Haritha, and said, "Banu Haritha, a calamity has befallen you."They asked, "What is it?"He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden the leasing of land."We said, "Messenger of Allah, what if we lease it for a portion of the grain?"He said, "No."He continued, "We used to lease it for the straw."He said, "No.""We used to lease it for whatever grew along the irrigation channel."He said, "No. Cultivate it yourself or give it to your brother to use."Mujahid differed from him.
أخبرنا محمد بن إبراهيم قال أنبأنا خالد هو ابن الحارث قال قرأت على عبد الحميد بن جعفر أخبرني أبي
أنه خرج إلى قومه إلى بني حارثة فقال يا بني حارثة لقد دخلت عليكم مصيبة قالوا ما هي قال نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن كراء الأرض قلنا يا رسول الله إذا نكريها بشيء من الحب قال لا قال وكنا نكريها بالتبن فقال لا وكنا نكريها بما على الربيع الساقي قال لا ازرعها أو امنحها أخاك خالفه مجاهد

[Its chain of transmission is daif] Nasai alone narrated it, and the preserved version is the following hadith, which Tabarani related in Al-Kabir, 1/210, no. 571, from the hadith of Khalid bin Harith, in abridged form, and it is also in Al-Kubra, no. 4589.Rafi bin Usayd was not deemed reliable by anyone except Ibn Hibban.
