Her husband had hired some non-Arab laborers to work for him, and they killed him. She mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I am not in a dwelling that belongs to him, nor do I receive any provision from him. May I move to my family and my orphans and care for them?"He said, "Do so."Then he asked, "What did you say?"She repeated her words to him.He said, "Observe your waiting period wherever the news reached you."
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا الليث عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن يزيد بن محمد عن سعد بن إسحق عن عمته زينب بنت كعب
أن زوجها تكارى علوجا ليعملوا له فقتلوه فذكرت ذلك لرسول الله ﷺ وقالت إني لست في مسكن له ولا يجري علي منه رزق أفأنتقل إلى أهلي ويتاماي وأقوم عليهم قال افعلي ثم قال كيف قلت فأعادت عليه قولها قال اعتدي حيث بلغك الخبر
