I went in to visit Qarada bin Kaab and Ubayy Masud al-Ansari at a wedding, and there were young women singing. I said, "You two are companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and among the people of Badr, yet this is being done in your presence?"He replied, "Sit down and listen with us if you wish, or leave if you wish. We have been given permission to have entertainment at weddings."
أخبرنا علي بن حجر قال حدثنا شريك عن أبي إسحق
دخلت على قرظة بن كعب وأبي مسعود الأنصاري في عرس وإذا جوار يغنين فقلت أنتما صاحبا رسول الله ﷺ ومن أهل بدر يفعل هذا عندكم فقال اجلس إن شئت فاسمع معنا وإن شئت اذهب قد رخص لنا في اللهو عند العرس

Sourcing, [sahih] Tabarani narrated it (Al-Kabir 17/248, no. 691), and Hakim (2/184) from the hadith of Sharik the judge, with this wording, and Israil followed him in agreement, as found in Tabarani 17/247, no. 690, and it is also in Al-Kubra, no. 5565, and it has a sahih corroborating witness in Hakim (2/184), who graded it sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
