The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me with the radiance of a newlywed upon me and asked, "Have you gotten married?"I replied, "I have married a woman from the Ansar."He asked, "How much did you give her as dowry?"I answered, "The weight of a date-stone in gold."
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا النضر بن شميل قال حدثنا شعبة قال حدثنا عبد العزيز بن صهيب قال سمعت أنسا يقول
رآني رسول الله ﷺ وعلي بشاشة العرس فقلت تزوجت امرأة من الأنصار قال كم أصدقتها قال زنة نواة من ذهب
Muslim reported it, in the Book of Marriage, chapter on dowry and the permissibility of it being teaching of the Quran, an iron ring, or other than that, and so on, hadith no. 82/1427, from Ishaq bin Ibrahim (that is, Ibn Rahawayh) through this chain, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 5507.
