Abdul-Rahman bin Awf came to the Prophet ﷺ with traces of yellow perfume on him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him about it, and he informed him that he had married a woman from the Ansar.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "How much did you give her as dowry?"He replied, "The weight of a date-stone in gold."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hold a wedding feast, even if only with a single sheep."
أخبرنا محمد بن سلمة والحارث بن مسكين قراءة عليه وأنا أسمع واللفظ لمحمد عن ابن القاسم عن مالك عن حميد الطويل
أن عبد الرحمن بن عوف جاء إلى النبي ﷺ وبه أثر الصفرة فسأله رسول الله ﷺ فأخبره أنه تزوج امرأة من الأنصار فقال رسول الله ﷺ كم سقت إليها قال زنة نواة من ذهب قال رسول الله ﷺ أولم ولو بشاة
Bukhari narrated it, Nikah, chapter "Yellow perfume for the newly married man," no. 5153, from the hadith of Malik through this chain. It is also in Kubra, no. 5508, and in Muwatta (Yahya), 2/545. Muslim also narrated it, no. 1427/81, from the hadith of Humayd and others through this chain.
