A woman used to circumambulate the House while naked, saying, "Today some of it or all of it will be exposed, but whatever is exposed of it, I do not permit it." So the verse was revealed, "Children of Adam, take your adornment at every place of worship" [Araf 7:31].
أخبرنا محمد بن بشار قال حدثنا محمد قال حدثنا شعبة عن سلمة قال سمعت مسلما البطين عن سعيد بن جبير
كانت المرأة تطوف بالبيت وهي عريانة تقول اليوم يبدو بعضه أو كله وما بدا منه فلا أحله قال فنزلت {يا بني آدم خذوا زينتكم عند كل مسجد}
Muslim narrated it in the Tafsir chapter, in the section on Allah's saying, "Take your adornment at every masjid," Hadith 3028, from Muhammad bin Bashshar with the same wording, and it is in al-Kubra, Hadith 3947. Muhammad is Ibn Jafar, whose title is Ghundar, and Salama is Ibn Kuhayl.
