He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "An army shall march against this House to attack it. When they reach a desert plain, the middle of the army will be swallowed up by the earth. The front and the rear will cry out to one another, and then they will all be swallowed up together. None will escape except a lone fugitive who will report what happened to them."A man said to him, "I bear witness against you that you have not lied about your grandfather, and I bear witness against your grandfather that he did not lie about Hafsah, and I bear witness against Hafsah that she did not lie about the Prophet ﷺ."
أخبرنا الحسين بن عيسى قال حدثنا سفيان عن أمية بن صفوان بن عبد الله بن صفوان سمع جده يقول
أنه قال ﷺ ليؤمن هذا البيت جيش يغزونه حتى إذا كانوا ببيداء من الأرض خسف بأوسطهم فينادي أولهم وآخرهم فيخسف بهم جميعا ولا ينجو إلا الشريد الذي يخبر عنهم فقال له رجل أشهد عليك أنك ما كذبت على جدك وأشهد على جدك أنه ما كذب على حفصة وأشهد على حفصة أنها لم تكذب على النبي ﷺ
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations, chapter on the swallowing up of the army that marches on the House, hadith no. 2883, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, through this route. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 3863. Hakim graded it sahih in 4/429, 430, as did Dhahabi.
