The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when arriving at Makkah, would stop at Dhu Tuwa and spend the night there until he prayed the dawn prayer. The place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed was on a rough, rugged hillock, not at the mosque that was later built there, but lower down, upon a rough, rugged mound.
أخبرنا عبدة بن عبد الله قال أنبأنا سويد قال حدثنا زهير قال حدثنا موسى بن عقبة قال حدثني نافع أن
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان ينزل بذي طوى يبيت به حتى يصلي صلاة الصبح حين يقدم إلى مكة ومصلى رسول الله ﷺ ذلك على أكمة غليظة ليس في المسجد الذي بني ثم ولكن أسفل من ذلك على أكمة خشنة غليظة
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Salah, Chapter on the Mosques Along the Roads to Madinah, etc., hadith 484, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj, Chapter on the Recommendation of Spending the Night at Dhu Tuwa, etc., hadith 1259/228, from the hadith of Musa, and it is in Kubra, hadith 3845.
