The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever breaks a bone or becomes lame has been released from his pilgrimage state, and he must perform another Hajj."Ali said, "I asked Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurayrah about this, and they both said, 'He spoke the truth.'"In Shuayb's version of the hadith, the wording is, "He must perform Hajj the following year."
[Its isnad is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in "Rites, chapter on being blocked from completing the pilgrimage," no. 1862, from the hadith of Yahya Qattan, with the same wording. See also the preceding hadith, and it is found in Kubra, no. 3844.
