He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever becomes lame or breaks a bone has been released from ihram, and another pilgrimage is due upon him."So I asked Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurayrah about this, and they both said, "He has spoken the truth."
[Its chain is sahih]. Abu Dawud transmitted it (see the following hadith), as did Tirmidhi, Hajj, chapter on one who enters the state of ihram for Hajj and then breaks a bone or becomes lame, no. 940, and Ibn Majah, Rites, chapter on the one prevented from completing Hajj, nos. 3077, 3078, from the hadith of Hajjaj Sawwaf through this route. Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih, and it is also in Kubra, no. 3843. Hakim graded it sahih according to the criterion of Bukhari, 1/470, 483, and Dhahabi agreed with him. It has been criticized on grounds that do not undermine it.Hajjaj here is Ibn Abu Uthman.
