I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Game of the land is lawful for you so long as you did not hunt it yourselves, nor was it hunted for you."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, Amr bin Abu Amr is not strong in hadith, even though Malik narrated from him.
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Rites, chapter "The meat of game for the person in ihram," no. 1851, and Tirmidhi in the Book of Hajj, chapter "What has been said about eating game for the person in ihram," no. 846, from Qutayba, with the same wording. Tirmidhi said, "We do not know of Muttalib having heard from Jabir." It is also found in Kubra, no. 3810. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 2641, as did Ibn Hibban, no. 980, and Hakim, according to the criterion of the two Shaykhs, 1/452, 476, and Dhahabi agreed with him.Yaqub is al-Iskandarani, Amr is Ibn Abu Amr, and Muttalib is Ibn Abdullah bin Muttalib bin Hantab, and he did not hear from Jabir , as Abu Hatim Razi and others have said.
