I used to perfume the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the finest perfume I could find, until I would see the sheen of the perfume on his head and beard before he entered the state of ihram.
أخبرنا عبدة بن عبد الله قال أنبأنا يحيى بن آدم عن إسرائيل عن أبي إسحق عن عبد الرحمن بن الأسود عن أبيه
كنت أطيب رسول الله ﷺ بأطيب ما كنت أجد من الطيب حتى أرى وبيص الطيب في رأسه ولحيته قبل أن يحرم
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Dress, chapter "Perfume on the Head and Beard," no. 5923, from the hadith of Israil, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hajj, chapter "Perfume for one entering ihram," no. 44/1190, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq Sabi, through the same chain. It is also found in Kubra, no. 3681.
