I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for his ihram before he entered into it, and for his exit from ihram before he performed tawaf around the House.
أخبرنا قتيبة بن سعيد عن مالك عن عبد الرحمن بن القاسم عن أبيه
طيبت رسول الله ﷺ لإحرامه قبل أن يحرم ولحله قبل أن يطوف بالبيت
Bukhari narrated it in Hajj, chapter "Perfume at ihram and what one wears when intending..." etc., hadith no. 1539, and Muslim in Hajj, chapter "Perfume for the one in ihram at the time of ihram," hadith no. 33/1189, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain. It is also found in the Muwatta (narrated by Yahya): 1/328, and in al-Kubra, hadith no. 3665.
