The Messenger of Allah ﷺ designated Dhul Hulayfah as the place where the people of Medina enter the state of ihram, Juhfah for the people of Sham, Qarn for the people of Najd, and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen. He said, "These places are for their inhabitants, and for anyone else who passes through them on the way to Hajj or Umrah. Whoever lives within the boundary of the miqat enters ihram from where he sets out, and so on, until the people of Mecca enter ihram from Mecca itself."
أخبرنا الربيع بن سليمان صاحب الشافعي قال حدثنا يحيى بن حسان قال حدثنا وهيب وحماد بن زيد عن عبد الله بن طاوس عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ وقت لأهل المدينة ذا الحليفة ولأهل الشام الجحفة ولأهل نجد قرنا ولأهل اليمن يلملم وقال هن لهن ولكل آت أتى عليهن من غيرهن فمن كان أهله دون الميقات حيث ينشئ حتى يأتي ذلك على أهل مكة
Bukhari narrated it in the book of Hajj, chapter on the point of entering ihram for the people of Makkah for Hajj and Umrah, hadith no. 1524, and Muslim in the book of Hajj, chapter on the appointed times for Hajj and Umrah, hadith no. 12/1181, from the hadith of Waheeb bin Khalid, by this chain. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 3634.
