The Messenger of Allah ﷺ designated Dhul Hulayfah as the place of ihram for the people of Madinah, Juhfah for the people of Sham and Egypt, Dhat Irq for the people of Iraq, and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen.
أخبرنا عمرو بن منصور قال حدثنا هشام بن بهرام قال حدثنا المعافى عن أفلح بن حميد عن القاسم
أن رسول الله ﷺ وقت لأهل المدينة ذا الحليفة ولأهل الشام ومصر الجحفة ولأهل العراق ذات عرق ولأهل اليمن يلملم
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Rites of Pilgrimage, chapter on the appointed times, hadith no. 1739, from the hadith of Hisham bin Bahram, with this wording. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 3633, and Abu Naeem Asbahani declared it sahih in Al-Hilyah, 4/94. The hadith has corroborating narrations. Qasim is the son of Muhammad, and Muafa is the son of Imran.
