The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best charity is what is given from a surplus of wealth. The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin with those whom you support."
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال حدثنا يحيى قال حدثنا عمرو بن عثمان قال سمعت موسى بن طلحة أن
قال رسول الله ﷺ أفضل الصدقة ما كان عن ظهر غنى واليد العليا خير من اليد السفلى وابدأ بمن تعول
Muslim reported it in the Book of Zakat, Chapter on the explanation that the upper hand is better than the lower hand, etc., hadith no. 1034, from the hadith of Yahya Qattan, with this wording, and it is also in Kubra, hadith no. 2323.
