The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wash his head, then pour water over it three times.
أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن يزيد قال حدثنا سفيان عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يشرب رأسه ثم يحثي عليه ثلاثا

[Sahih] See the two preceding hadiths. Tirmidhi also narrated it, no. 104, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with the same chain, at greater length, and he said, hasan sahih.
