The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced to them the death of Najashi, the ruler of Abyssinia, on the day he died and said, "Seek forgiveness for your brother."
أخبرنا أبو داود قال حدثنا يعقوب قال حدثنا أبي عن صالح عن ابن شهاب قال حدثني أبو سلمة وابن المسيب أن
أن رسول الله ﷺ نعى لهما النجاشي صاحب الحبشة اليوم الذي مات فيه وقال استغفروا لأخيكم
Bukhari narrated it in The Virtues of the Ansar, chapter on the death of Najashi, no. 3880, and Muslim in Funerals, chapter on the takbir over the funeral, no. 63/951, from the hadith of Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad, transmitted through him. It is also found in al-Kubra, no. 2006.
