I asked Ayesha, "Which deeds were most beloved to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"She replied, "Those done consistently."I asked, "At what part of the night did he rise to pray?"She answered, "When he heard the rooster crow."
أخبرنا محمد بن إبراهيم البصري عن بشر هو ابن المفضل قال حدثنا شعبة عن أشعث بن سليم عن أبيه
قلت لعائشة أي الأعمال أحب إلى رسول الله ﷺ قالت الدائم قلت فأي الليل كان يقوم قالت إذا سمع الصارخ
Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Tahajjud, chapter on one who sleeps at the time before dawn, hadith no. 1132, from the hadith of Shubah. Muslim transmitted it in the Book of Prayer of the Traveler, chapter on night prayer and the number of units the Prophet ﷺ prayed at night, and so on, hadith no. 741, from the hadith of Ashath bin Salim, through the same chain. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 1316.
