I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ deliver the sermon while standing, then he would sit briefly without speaking, then stand up again and deliver a second sermon. So whoever tells you that the Prophet ﷺ delivered the sermon while sitting, do not believe him.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا أبو عوانة عن سماك
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يخطب قائما ثم يقعد قعدة لا يتكلم فيها ثم قام فخطب خطبة أخرى فمن خبرك أن النبي ﷺ خطب قاعدا فلا تصدقه
Sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in Kitab al-Salah, chapter on delivering the sermon while standing, hadith no. 1095, from the hadith of Abu Awana, Al-Waddah, transmitting it. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith no. 1788.
