An Arabi came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him about ablution. He showed him how to perform ablution three times for each part, then said, "This is how ablution is done. Whoever exceeds this has done wrong, transgressed, and committed injustice."
أخبرنا محمود بن غيلان قال حدثنا يعلى قال حدثنا سفيان عن موسى بن أبي عائشة
جاء أعرابي إلى النبي ﷺ يسأله عن الوضوء فأراه الوضوء ثلاثا ثلاثا ثم قال هكذا الوضوء فمن زاد على هذا فقد أساء وتعدى وظلم
[Hasan] Reported by Abu Dawud, Purification, chapter on performing wudu three times each, no. 135, and Ibn Majah, Purification, chapter on what has been said about moderation in wudu, no. 422, from the hadith of Musa bin Abu Ayesha, transmitted through him. It is also found in al-Kubra, no. 173. Ibn Khuzayma, Ibn Jarud, al-Asqalani, and others graded it sahih.
