I knocked at the door while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was praying a voluntary prayer, and the door faced the qiblah. He stepped to his right or his left, opened the door, then returned to his place of prayer.
أخبرنا إسحق بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا حاتم بن وردان قال حدثنا برد بن سنان أبو العلاء عن الزهري عن عروة
استفتحت الباب ورسول الله ﷺ يصلي تطوعا والباب على القبلة فمشى عن يمينه أو عن يساره ففتح الباب ثم رجع إلى مصلاه
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Recorded by Abu Dawud, Prayer, chapter, "Action during prayer," no. 922, and Tirmidhi, Prayer, chapter, "Mention of what walking and action are permissible," no. 601, from the hadith of Abu Ala Burd, from him, and it is also found in al-Kubra, no. 1129.Ibn Shihab Zuhri was a mudallis, and Shafii, Daraqutni, and others charged him with tadlis. According to the more correct view, a mudallis's report is not accepted when he uses the form "an" (from so-and-so) without stating that he directly heard it. It has a daif corroborating narration in Daraqutni, 2/80.
