I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying, and whenever he was in an odd-numbered rakah of his prayer, he would not rise until he had sat upright.
Bukhari transmitted it in the Book of Adhan, chapter, "One who sits properly at an odd point in his prayer, then rises," hadith 823, from the hadith of Hushaym. Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Prayer, chapter, "What has been said about how one rises from sujud," hadith 287, from Ali bin Hajar, with the same wording. It also appears in Kubra, hadith 738.
