I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The Hour will come when the Romans are the most numerous of people."When this reached Amr bin As, he said, "What are these statements people report from you, that you attribute to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Mustawrid replied, "I said only what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Amr said, "If you have said that, then indeed they are the most forbearing of people in times of trial, the quickest to recover from calamity, and the best of people toward their poor and weak."
حدثني حرملة بن يحيى التجيبي حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب حدثني أبو شريح أن عبد الكريم بن الحارث حدثه أن
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول تقوم الساعة والروم أكثر الناس قال فبلغ ذلك عمرو بن العاص فقال ما هذه الأحاديث التي تذكر عنك أنك تقولها عن رسول الله ﷺ فقال له المستورد قلت الذي سمعت من رسول الله ﷺ قال فقال عمرو لئن قلت ذلك إنهم لأحلم الناس عند فتنة وأجبر الناس عند مصيبة وخير الناس لمساكينهم وضعفائهم
Muslim reported it through Harmalah, from Ibn Wahb, from Abu Shurayh, from Abdul-Kareem bin Harith, that al-Mustawrid said, "I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, 'The Hour will come while the Romans are the most numerous of people.'"It was said, Abdul-Kareem did not meet al-Mustawrid, nor did Harith bin Yazid meet him, and the hadith is mursal.
