Abu Idris Khawlani reported,

I entered the masjid of Damascus, and there was a young man with bright, gleaming teeth, surrounded by people. Whenever they disagreed about something, they referred it to him and accepted his verdict. I asked about him and was told, "This is Muaz bin Jabal."The next day I came early, but I found that he had come even earlier, and he was praying. I waited until he finished his prayer, then I approached him from the front, greeted him, and said, "By Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah."He asked, "By Allah?"I said, "By Allah."He asked again, "By Allah?"I said, "By Allah."He asked a third time, "By Allah?"I said, "By Allah!"Then he took hold of the folds of my cloak, pulled me toward him, and said, "Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that Allah تبارك وتعالى said, 'My love is assured for those who love one another for My sake, who sit together for My sake, who visit one another for My sake, and who give freely to one another for My sake.'"
