A slave belonging to Abdullah bin Umar stole something while he was a runaway, so Abdullah bin Umar sent him to Saeed bin As, who was the governor of Madinah, for his hand to be cut off. But Saeed refused to cut off his hand and said, "The hand of a runaway slave is not to be cut off when he steals."Abdullah bin Umar said to him, "In which Book of Allah did you find this?"Then Abdullah bin Umar gave the order concerning him, and his hand was cut off.
حدثني عن مالك
أن عبدا لعبد الله بن عمر سرق وهو آبق فأرسل به عبد الله بن عمر إلى سعيد بن العاص وهو أمير المدينة ليقطع يده فأبى سعيد أن يقطع يده وقال لا تقطع يد الآبق السارق إذا سرق فقال له عبد الله بن عمر في أي كتاب الله وجدت هذا ثم أمر به عبد الله بن عمر فقطعت يده
