Malik reported,

Urwa bin Zubayr and Sulayman bin Yasar were both asked about a man who made a contract of manumission covering himself and his sons and then died. Should the sons of such a man work to pay off their father's contract, or are they slaves?They both answered, "They must work to pay off their father's contract, and nothing is remitted from it on account of their father's death."
