Yahya bin Saeed reported,

Abu Darda wrote to Salman Farsi, "Come to the Holy Land."Salman wrote back to him, "Land does not make anyone holy. It is a person's deeds that make him holy. I have heard that you have taken up the practice of medicine and are treating people. If you truly cure, then well and good for you. But if you are only playing at being a physician, beware of killing someone and entering the Fire because of it."So whenever Abu Darda had judged between two men and they had turned to leave, he would look at them and say, "Come back to me. Repeat your case for me. A mere pretender at medicine, by Allah."
