Umar bin Khattab was married to a woman of the Ansar, and she bore him Asim bin Umar. Later he separated from her. Umar came to Quba and found his son Asim playing in the courtyard of the masjid. He took hold of the boy's arm and set him in front of him on his mount, but the boy's grandmother caught up with him and struggled with him over the child, until the two of them came before Abu Bakr Siddiq.Umar said, "He is my son."The woman said, "He is my son."Abu Bakr said, "Leave the boy to her."Umar did not say another word back to him.The narrator added, "I heard him say, 'This is the ruling I follow in such a case.'"
و حدثني مالك عن يحيى بن سعيد أنه قال
كانت عند عمر بن الخطاب امرأة من الأنصار فولدت له عاصم بن عمر ثم إنه فارقها فجاء عمر قباء فوجد ابنه عاصما يلعب بفناء المسجد فأخذ بعضده فوضعه بين يديه على الدابة فأدركته جدة الغلام فنازعته إياه حتى أتيا أبا بكر الصديق فقال عمر ابني وقالت المرأة ابني فقال أبو بكر خل بينها وبينه قال فما راجعه عمر الكلام قال و سمعت قوله تعالى يقول وهذا الأمر الذي آخذ به في ذلك
