Nafi reported,

A man found a lost item and came to Abdullah bin Umar and said to him, "I have found something lost. What do you think I should do about it?"Abdullah bin Umar told him, "Announce it publicly."The man said, "I have already done that."Abdullah said, "Do it more."The man said, "I have already done that."Then Abdullah said, "I will not tell you to consume it. Had you wished, you would not have picked it up in the first place."

أن رجلا وجد لقطة فجاء إلى عبد الله بن عمر فقال له إني وجدت لقطة فماذا ترى فيها فقال له عبد الله بن عمر عرفها قال قد فعلت قال زد قال قد فعلت فقال عبد الله لا آمرك أن تأكلها ولو شئت لم تأخذها
