Ayesha, Umm Muiminin, proposed on behalf of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr for the hand of Qurayba bint Abu Umaya, and her family married her to him. Later they became displeased with Abdul-Rahman and said, "We only gave her in marriage because of Ayesha."So Ayesha sent word to Abdul-Rahman and told him what they had said. He then placed Qurayba's affair in her own hands, and she chose her husband. That choice was not counted as a divorce.

عن عائشة أم المؤمنين أنها خطبت على عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر قريبة بنت أبي أمية فزوجوه ثم إنهم عتبوا على عبد الرحمن وقالوا ما زوجنا إلا عائشة فأرسلت عائشة إلى عبد الرحمن فذكرت ذلك له فجعل أمر قريبة بيدها فاختارت زوجها فلم يكن ذلك طلاقا
