Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, gave Hafsah bint Abdul-Rahman in marriage to Mundhir bin Zubayr while Abdul-Rahman was away in Syria. When Abdul-Rahman returned, he said, "Is this how someone like me is treated? Is someone like me to be bypassed in such a matter?"So Ayesha spoke to Mundhir bin Zubayr about it, and Mundhir said, "The decision rests with Abdul-Rahman."Abdul-Rahman then said, "I would never overturn something you have already settled."So Hafsah remained with Mundhir, and this was not counted as a divorce.

أن عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ زوجت حفصة بنت عبد الرحمن المنذر بن الزبير وعبد الرحمن غائب بالشام فلما قدم عبد الرحمن قال ومثلي يصنع هذا به ومثلي يفتات عليه فكلمت عائشة المنذر بن الزبير فقال المنذر فإن ذلك بيد عبد الرحمن فقال عبد الرحمن ما كنت لأرد أمرا قضيته فقرت حفصة عند المنذر ولم يكن ذلك طلاقا
