The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade eating the meat of the sacrificial animals after three days.Abdullah bin Abu Bakr said, "I mentioned this to Amra bint Abdul-Rahman, and she said, 'He has spoken the truth. I heard Ayesha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, say that a group of desert people arrived in haste at the time of the sacrifice during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Store away enough for three days and give the rest in charity."'"Ayesha continued, "Later on, someone said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'People used to benefit from their sacrificial animals. They would render the fat from them and make waterskins out of them.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What about that?" or words to that effect.They said, "You forbade the meat of the sacrificial animals after three days."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I only forbade you because of the group that came upon you in need. So eat, give in charity, and store away."By "the group that came in need" she meant poor people who had arrived in Madinah.
و حدثني عن مالك عن عبد الله بن أبي بكر
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن أكل لحوم الضحايا بعد ثلاث قال عبد الله بن أبي بكر فذكرت ذلك لعمرة بنت عبد الرحمن فقالت صدق سمعت عائشة زوج النبي ﷺ تقول دف ناس من أهل البادية حضرة الأضحى في زمان رسول الله ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ ادخروا لثلاث وتصدقوا بما بقي قالت فلما كان بعد ذلك قيل لرسول الله ﷺ لقد كان الناس ينتفعون بضحاياهم ويجملون منها الودك ويتخذون منها الأسقية فقال رسول الله ﷺ وما ذلك أو كما قال قالوا نهيت عن لحوم الضحايا بعد ثلاث فقال رسول الله ﷺ إنما نهيتكم من أجل الدافة التي دفت عليكم فكلوا وتصدقوا وادخروا يعني بالدافة قوما مساكين قدموا المدينة
